For the holidays, I surprised Amy with a studio portrait of our lovely mutt Summer.

Summer is a two-year-old rescue who traveled from South Carolina to New York where we adopted her in 2010 and we can not imagine our lives without her. She is energetic, lovable, curious and sometimes skittish…

As you can see from an outtake on the right, she did not like being under the studio lights. Fortunately with some careful preparation, I was able to capture the photo on the left within the first few frames.

Lesson learned, never under any circumstances try to photograph a dog by yourself in a studio.
